Louisiana

After leaving the Gulf Coastline, it was into Louisiana and finding a campsite at Sam Houston Jones State Park.  I was supposed to arrive around 5:30, which left plenty of time to set up and explore a bit before bed time.  Unfortunately, the traffic did not agree. I got stuck in construction  traffic. Six miles in an hour and a half!  Finally got out of it, and just my luck, then a train came and I had to wait another 15 minutes!

By the time I got to the park it was getting dark.  I followed the signs for tent camping and found a pretty run down area.  Couple of scrabby  buildings and none of the spots seemed to be numbered.  So I set up my gear and hoped for a good night.  Turned out the bathroom was newer and pretty nice. Electric and flushing toilets. I was the only one camping there, which seemed odd and gave me a little bit of the hebbie jeebies.  Plus all the "Beware of alligators" signs made me nervous.

Made it through the night safely without any critters bothering me except mosquitos. And boy there was a ton of those.  Got sprinkled on with rain a few times during the night, but nothing of any concern.  Got up early & packed up.  Took a few pictures but the sky was overcast and the light just didn't show off the swamp very well.  Onward to Arkansas!
