Final days in Corpus

It is really hard to pack my car and get back on the road.  Cindy keeps tempting me with more and more fun stuff to do.  But, I had a conference call with work and two sites are being shot this week, which means I will have a full week of work to try and complete before heading over seas.

We headed up to Fulton to go see one of the old historic mansions up there.  The town got hit pretty hard from hurricane Harvey last August. Still huge debis piles everywhere.  Can't imagine the loss of revenue and business  I comes that will hurt those little towns this year.  Seemed like only one out of five hotels were open, and I am assuming they are filled with volunteers.  So no spring break income for a lot of businesses.  It was very quiet there and the shops seemed to most be locals.

We were lucky that the Boiling Pot didn't suffer any damage. They had extended hours so we stopped in for some oysters and a boil. YUM!  We laughed and reminisced about being there 26 years ago, fresh out of college. A real treat for a little Iowa bumpkin like me.

I headed back out in the road today.  Cindy packed me up all kinds of treats for the car. Even some fresh squeezed grapefruit juice. Spoiled!  I raided her Key Lime tree and will be enjoying that for quite a bit.  I may have to whip up something special for Russ when I get to Kentucky.

Oh! I took my little red car on a boat ride today!  Her first! I picked a route up the coastline that included a free ferry ride.  Took about an hour to complete the whole process, but I enjoyed  being out on the water watching the gulls and pelicans one last time.

I made one last stop along the beach for a photo op before heading inland.  I really had to restrain myself, because the spot I stopped at had a ton of beautiful shells! I resisted the temptation since I already collected one big container of shells and drift wood.  Goodbye, beach! Thanks for the sand in my undies! 😀
