Big Bend Day Three

Started off with a nice hike towards a formation called Mules Ears.  Was a good 4 mile hike but almost all of it was in the open and there was no shade except a small amount by the spring where I stopped to turn around.  Then a ton of people showed up, so I started back to give other people a chance in the shade.  Started feeling really sluggish by the time I got back to the car.  The desert was about 10 degrees warmer today, and it really got to me.  Stopped to do another short hike, but turned around within 20 minutes since I wasn't feeling great.

Decided to go back down by the river and dip my feet in the Rio Grande till I felt better.  Met a nice family down by the river, set my lawn chair in the water and enjoyed watching their daughters playing in the river.  Very relaxing and was nice to just be off my feet for a while.

Set my lawn chair up and waited for the sunset.  Another beautiful night, but I could see a storm rolling in to the right. After sunset the wind picked up and i saw some lightening.  I decided to pull my sleeping bag into the car and set up in there in case we got hit by a bunch of rain.  Ended up not hitting us and couple of hours later (I was reading in the car) the storm passed and I was able to return to my tent.   Nice warm night, finally!
