Thankful For Friends
Lawny's friends really came through for me! I hit Oregon the Friday before the big eclipse, and guess what? There were no campgrounds or Air B&B sites available, hotels were booked or out of my price ranges. Luckily, Mike and his family were able to take me in for a few days near Portland, and Justine and her family were able to take me in through the eclipse in Eugene. After that, I camped for one night, then checked out the local hostel the other night. It was a good week of relaxing, and what a feeling to have a shower available every day!
Mike showed me around Portland and we relaxed at the house. We did get dinner at a local brewery, which was quite good! We ate lots of ice cream and enjoyed his back yard with fresh strawberries and tomatoes from the garden. Yum!
Justine and John spoiled me with grilled salmon and halibut. I finally got my seafood fix! Justine had the idea to go out on a pond for the eclipse using their stand up paddleboards. Only three other people out on the water, so it was very quiet and relaxing. John was even nice enough to spare some time trying to get some of my broken camping equipment up and running again. Much appreciated!
Lawny has good friends, and I am so thankful to them. I would have had to do some backtracking and waited out those 5 days in Washington if it weren't for them.
