A week with Jen in Eugene

After staying with Lawny's friends,  I got to stay with an old friend from Omaha.  I haven't seen her in years, but she was willing to put me up for a week, even though law school had just started up for her at the University of Oregon (go Ducks!).  I managed to get her out for a bit at the farmers market (and wow, I have never seen one better than Des Moines).  So much good produce from local farms.  Bought lots of fresh goodies and ate like champs.

Jen also took a break from studies and we ran out to the beach.  After enjoying the surf & sand and hunting for shells, we were both craving seafood.  Found a great place in Florence, then wandered down on the pier for a while before heading back.  Great, relaxing day exploring.  Made me crave more travel.  Jen had a tough first week of classes, so I said my goodbyes and hit the road again with the promise I would swing back through before heading down to Crater Lake NP.

Where am I going till then? Well, I headed a bit south, then west to the coast.   I will follow the coast as much as I can, then follow the Columbia River out to Mt. Hood.  Then south down the eastern side of the Cascades to Bend.   Then back over the Cascades to Eugene.  Rough plans, and I am thinking it will take about two weeks to make the loop.
