Salt Creek SP (Little Iowa)

I spent two nights at Dungeness,  but the smoke hadn't cleared yet.  So, on a recommendation, I headed to another state park to camp and check out the tide pools.  The weather was still pretty warm (mid 80's), and time near the water was nice.
So, as you may have guessed, an 11+ mile beach hike was not good for rest and recovery of my aching legs.  So, I forced myself to sit in camp and read most of the afternoon.  Around 3:30, I couldn't take the idleness anymore and went out for a wander.  The campground had three access points to the water and I went to check them out.  Lots of little creatures busy with their days.  Then I saw it.  A real sand beach instead of the rocky, rough shore line.  I got directions,  switched into my swimsuit and headed out.  I managed to get a nice hour in at Crescent Beach before the sun got low enough and the temps dropped.

I went to bed early,  knowing low tide was around 6:30 the next morning,  and I wanted to make it all the way to the end of Tongue Point.  The tides pools were amazing.  So much life in such a small area.  There were times when everything in front of me was swarming with tiny crabs trying to escape my shadow.  So cool!  Lots of macro pics that morning.

Little Iowa:  are you wondering why I am calling it that?  Well, I was approached by five or six different people the first day I was there, all wanting to tell me about how they or their family had lived in Iowa.  And boy, did the "Iowa nice" come out.  My neighbors took me in for a big dinner and a fire, and I had another couple invite me over for a couple of beers and a chat at their RV.  Nice!
